Things are going well here, but the Marriott seems to have dropped the ball in the wifi area, so our connectivity is scattered at best. I will say that [info]alicetiarra rocked her presentation on Friendster and the issue of self-presentation on social networking profiles.

Tomorrow [info]oceanpark is giving a talk using data from a a survey on LiveJournal 'friending'. I thought it would be fun if anyone reading this journal felt like commenting during the time she is presenting (she knows I am planning this.) Then, when it's time for questions, you could sort of be in the room with us. Well, sort of.

The abstract to the paper (I haven't read the paper yet) is here.

My take on the friendship issue is different from Kate's (uh, [info]oceanpark's, so it will be fun to hear the presentation.

Oh, it's going to be at 3:30 Chicago time, btw.

I'm going to see if she'll put the whole paper up in advance, and maybe post some links to things I have written about this issue, so you can play the home game if you want.
