Microcredit in education?

  • Aug. 2nd, 2005 at 6:13 PM

So Paulo Freire is most famous for the banking theory of education, right? But for the past decade, microcredit has been changing the way we think about banking, particularly in the areas of the world most important to Freire. So why isn't there a micro-credit theory of education? Or am I missing something? I wish [info]anjum were around to ask about this...

Freire and Gallatin

1. I'm doing an experiment and videotaping myself doing a close read/mini-lecture on Chapter One of Pedagogy of the Oppressed. I don't know if it will interest anyone else, but it's an interesting experience for me so I'll keep on.

2. Probably because I've run into a couple while back, I am reminded of how much I enjoyed the students at Gallatin. Shout outs to you all. xo

I'm thinking of setting up a journal to do an a slow reading through Paulo Freire's books Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Pedagogy of Indignation. The first I've read before but never done real reading notes on. The second I just bought. Would anyone be interested in joining?
